Moncayo Unveils Exclusive Golf Club in Puerto Rico, Designed by Renowned UK Firm Mackenzie & Ebert, Setting a New Standard for Luxury Golf in the Caribbean

Tuesday, March 4, 2025

Moncayo, an innovative and visionary 1,100-acre luxury development along Puerto Rico’s eastern seacoast, has officially revealed its Golf Club, a prestigious addition designed in partnership with the renowned UK-based golf course architects, Mackenzie & Ebert. Famous for their exceptional designs across Europe, this marks Mackenzie & Ebert’s debut course in the Caribbean, setting a new benchmark for exclusive, world-class golf experiences in North America. The Golf Club, available exclusively to resident members and their guests, welcomes golfers of all skill levels. Thoughtfully designed to blend with the natural beauty of the landscape, it offers breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea, the El Yunque Mountains, and the island’s pristine coastline, enhancing both the Moncayo community and its wellness-oriented residential offerings.

“Partnering with Mackenzie & Ebert to introduce this breathtaking golf course to the island was an
easy decision, given their track record for crafting some of the most well known golf clubs around the
world,” said Carter Redd, President of Moncayo. “Moncayo’s Golf Club is more than a place to play
golf — it is an experience that will challenge residents and their guests, while also providing a relaxed,
fun round of casual golf for generational families and dear friends.”

The Club will boast an 18-hole championship Golf Course stretching over 7,200 yards, featuring six sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all skill levels. Several holes will offer breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea. For the first time in Puerto Rico, Mackenzie & Ebert’s distinctive design philosophy will come to life, creating an unparalleled golfing experience on the island. Each hole is carefully crafted to harmonize with the natural landscape, meandering through the rolling hills and coastal vistas. Additionally, the one-acre putting course, “El Yunquito,” will serve as a lively and social space for both practice and leisurely enjoyment.

Beyond the 18-hole course, Moncayo’s Golf Club will also offer a 9-hole short “Family Course,” providing a fun, quick alternative for short-game practice. This dynamic layout is ideal for families, seasoned golfers, and those seeking a faster round.

The Golf House, located within the practice facility, will feature the Golf Performance Center, designed to enhance players’ skills through expert instruction and cutting-edge technologies. Leading the operations and coaching will be Manuel Relancio, PGA, originally from Buenos Aires, who has spent the past decade overseeing golf teams at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic.

“Designing our first course in the Caribbean has been an exciting challenge, one that allows us
to blend renowned design with the natural beauty of Puerto Rico and the wonderful land at
Moncayo as we grow our international footprint,” said Martin Ebert, Co-Founder of Mackenzie &
Ebert. “Our design seeks to respect and enhance the island’s natural landscape with a layout that
challenges golfers while offering truly breathtaking 360-degree views of the ocean and mountains
for a unique sense of its location.”

Construction of the course is already in progress, with the first four holes now shaped and work continuing on the practice grounds.

“The test with golf is always whether people will remember each individual hole at the end of the
round, and I think there will be no problem at all at Moncayo,” said Martin Ebert, Co-Founder of
Mackenzie & Ebert. “Every hole will be very memorable.”

Moncayo will redefine luxury living as the gateway to the Caribbean, offering direct access to endless water sports, a private island beach, and an exclusive Members’ clubhouse and Athletic Club with stadium courts for tennis, pickleball, and padel.

In addition to these private club amenities, the community will have access to an oceanfront Auberge Resorts Collection Hotel, featuring diverse dining options, a curated spa and wellness program, and branded resort villas and private residences, all with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea and the Spanish Virgin Islands.

Moncayo will also boast a 100-acre Napa-inspired organic farm, along with a plant and tree nursery that will supply the farm stand and provide fresh ingredients for the farm-to-table culinary experiences on-site. The Village will enrich the community further with walkable shops, boutique retail, Class A offices, a concierge medical clinic, and an accredited K-12 International School, promoting a dynamic, multigenerational lifestyle.
